I was really excited for this project because I feel I have
always been interested in hair and learning new techniques, I feel like my
skills have improve as I have constantly been having to really think about the
styles I am creating, not being able to create it directly onto the models head
I have has to think about the process of developing the design so it will work
with not only a wig but a synthetic wig. I have had to be organised due to
setting the wig 3 days prior to styling as no heat products could be used on
the synethic wigs, I couldn’t think of a design and just go with it onto the models
hair I had to really think about every single element within that design and
how id actually achieve this. I have really enjoyed the fact we have been able
to create three designs because I feel like its given me an insight into how id
actually work in industry constantly changing a wig to a different style or
adapting a wig for a new model. I have learnt a lot about hair in general and
how really working with the models head and face shapes. Towards the end my designs
were more successful as I was really looking at the models face and what
actually suited her, adapting a style I had to that actually person I have learnt
is very important.
The design I was most please with was my moderate I feel
that whole idea of the concept was portrayed well, all the elements I feel
worked very well together for example the shape with the hair lace with the contrasted
textures, on the actual model. Least successful was my Extreme a lot of
elements within the design I would change such as the shape and positioning of
hair, this was partly due to the fact I didn’t pre style the wig making it on
the day on the models head. I was partly please this didn’t go to plan as I
feel its really taught me I need to think carefully about my designs and how
they will work in reality, I feel a lot of the techniques I’ve learnt I can
project onto other future hair designs.
Not only have I enjoyed the practical side learning a lot of
new skills vie really enjoyed the design process I like that its been aimed
towards a fashion editorial shoot we have really been given our own space and
time no boundaries. Our design’s project a personal preference within hair that
is was I have enjoyed the whole design process not only creating aesthetical
pleasing styles but styles that each element means something its done for a
reason this is shown throughout my research. I have also not taken inspiration from
other hair designs these three hairstyles are original each element is
something through the design process I have created reason behind it.
When I look at the final images and final magazine spreads I
created you can tell it’s a personal thing that is what makes me proud of my
final images. Although if I were to re do them (something I would love to do in
the future) and develop them more I would change many elements on a lot of the designs
not just the extreme which I feel was not successful id adapt them and develop
them and really build on the design.
In the time we had I feel my images are a working block and
I feel through my images from the extreme to the simple I have already
progressed so much within those weeks setting at the begin I was very
unconfident and didn’t enjoyed rollers as id find myself getting stressed and
you can see that within my extreme image but in comparison to my simple wig I
really enjoyed the setting process and the accomplishment when the set turned
out perfectly, I felt I could see my progression through the unit in both my design
and my technical skills.
